'Rang De Basanti ' unplugged

Rang De Basanti , slated for release on January 20, delves into the lives of five friends led by Aamir Khan, who are hired by a young London-based filmmaker (played by Alice Patten), to help her shoot a documentary on Indian revolutionaries during the freedom movement.
Somewhere along the way, the film turns to a MiG-21 crash, in which Flight-Lieutenant Ajay Rathod, played by actor Madhavan, is killed. The film portrays lives of young pilots, the risks they undertake while flying and hardship their families undergo after untimely deaths of officers in crashes. The movie also alludes to the neta-babu nexus in finalising murky but lucrative defence deals, with the requisite kickbacks playing a role. The defence minister, in reel life, blames the MiG-21 crash on "human error". This angers Rathod’s friends, led by Aamir Khan, who then give up their bohemian lifestyles and become concerned citizens probing the death of their friend. They eventually shoot the defence minister dead and then announce it on radio for the country to hear.

9 to 2

Eversince Kalyan took his Sony TV away last year when he moved to AP i've been reading like crazy .For the first few days life without TV was as untolerable as Shahid Kapoor .

I cooked. I mopped .I did my laundry .I even committed the cardinal sin of cleaning my hoodibabaa.Yet i had time to invent electricity .

It took few weeks for me to get adjusted to days with more than 24 hours. Not being a movie buff fuelled the flames. On one bored- to -death weekend evening when i went to Qutb plaza to pick up few garam samosas , i found this lending library .It didnt have a jaw dropping collection but it still had a lot of "must reads" which i had missed.

The month i enrolled i clocked 9 books - my best till date since my Mumbai days when i used to buy 2 books every saturday evening at Vashi .

I shuffled authors and genres everytime to sustain the momentum.

Class .Day of Jackal.Stranger.
Papillon.Broker.Alchemist.
Critical mass.Man,woman and child .The monk who sold his Ferrari .
To kill a mocking bird.Deception point.Bridge across forever.

The inevitable downward spiral began in September and touched a lowly 2 books per month in December .

Began 2006 with " Kite runner "
What a book !
I couldnt recall the last time i read a book with such an emotional undercurrent .
Love story / To kill a mocking bird /Kallikaatu ithihaasam could be the closest three.

Finished " False impression " last night .Easily the raciest no non-sense novel since ' D'ci Code ' .
Archer has hit the bulls eye this time - decades after NAPM NAPL .
